A sharply struck and very well made imitation

Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.56 g, 12 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Treveri, irregular mint, after 320. CONSTA-NTINVS P Laureate head of Constantine I to right. Rev. D N CONSTANTINO MAX A / PTR around wreat containing VOT / XX. Cf. RIC 439 (for possible prototype). A sharply struck and very well made imitation. Very minor doubling on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.

This contemporary imitation is similar to RIC 439, which itself must be an unofficial coin, as no regular coins of this type were struck for Constantine I in Treveri.
